The Patient Referral Coordinator performs a variety of tasks to Javery Pain Institute. Essential duties include coordinating outgoing referrals for services recommended by the Provider; providing excellent customer/patient services via phone and in person; referring callers to the appropriate departments; making appointments for patients according to established protocols; assisting patients/clients with forms. The position is considered a crucial link between the patient and care delivery by the clinical and service staff. The Patient Referral Coordinator must work collaboratively with the clinical staff in support of direct patient service, exhibiting flexibility and a “can do” attitude. Patient services are a key priority in the position requiring the Patient Referral Coordinator to serve as a point of contact with internal and external departments, all with the goal of fostering an environment which promotes patient comfort and trust.

 

Qualifications

  • Demonstrates knowledge of EviCore, AIM, and Great Lakes Health Connect (GLHC)
  • Prepares appropriate documentation sent out to referring offices
  • Tracks referrals for the entire process, obtains notes once complete, and appeals any denied Authorizations
  • Contacts Insurance companies directly when needed
  • Works closely with Providers and clinical staff
  • Understands the importance of maintaining confidentiality; able to maintain confidentially under HIPAA
  • Exercises a high degree of diplomacy and tact; excellent customer services and interpersonal communication skills; Cultural sensitivity and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Exhibits intermediate to advanced phone skills; able to effectively relate via telephone and in person to serve the needs of the clinics patients/clients/visitor in a manner that is efficient and productive
  • Works under pressure with minimal supervision. Proven flexibility and willingness to handle a variety of tasks
  • Exhibits intermediate computer knowledge and skills

 

Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of outgoing referral process in a medical office
  • 2 years in a clinical setting is highly preferred
